Bij ons in de wijk is een plein.
Op dat plein staat een speeltoestel. Met klimnet, klimrek, glijpaal, grote- en kleine glijbaan, huisje, behendigheidsspel….. Uitdaging genoeg voor onze (buurt)kinderen, zou je zeggen.
Ter aankleding van het plein staan er een aantal uit de kluiten gewassen, conifeerachtige, struiken. En juist deze groene reuzen dagen onze (buurt)kinderen uit tot spelen. Ze klimmen er in, verstoppen zich er achter en onder. En takken worden gebruikt als tekenstok, zwaard of bouwmateriaal.
En zo ook het gele ‘tapijt’ dat onder en rondom het speeltoestel is gelegd. Bedoeld als schone en veilige ondergrond voor onze spelende (buurt)kinderen.
De rest van het plein is bedekt met zand met steentje en rotzooi.
Wanneer onze kinderen thuis komen van een middagje spelen op het plein vind ik regelmatig in de broekzakken van hun broeken-met-kapotte-knieën, de souvenirs van een leerzame middag; steentjes, scherven, papiertjes, takjes en nog veel meer.
There’s a square at our neighborhood.
On the square there’s a playset. With climbing net, climbing frame, fireman’s pole, a big and a small slide, playhouse, skills game…… Challenging enough, you might think.
For decoration of the square there are several oversized, coniferous, shrubs.
And just these giants are challenging our children to play. They climb into them, they hide behind and underneath them. And the branches are used as a drawingstick, sword or building material.
And so the yellow carpet that is placed under and around the playset. Intended as a clean and safe surface for our playing kids.
The rest of the square is covered with pebbles and mess.
When our children come home after an afternoon playing at the square I often find, in their pants-with-holes-on-the-knees, the souvenirs of an educational afternoon; pebbles, shards, papers, twigs, and much more.
