education on tour

our quest for the essence of education

It all started in 2004, while we picked up a band in Stockholm, Sweden. We just met each other a week before this road trip. We drove in an old red Ford Transit for almost 24 hours. And we can tell you: magic happened on this trip!

Now, 12 years later, raising three wonderful and unique kids, our search and quest for the essence of education within our family and our jobs makes us live our dream: we are going to explore the world of education in February 2018! We’re gonna search, feel and live the essence. Our essence. Back to basic: one camper and one suitcase each. For six months we are going on a journey. In the mean while we teach our kids to be in the world. To explore and be ourselves.

We found a great place for tonight! Since we’ve start traveling around with a camper we always go home with an urbex experience! In almost every town we stayed we found lost houses. This time a whole hotel!?

Picture the stars

Picture the stars

Remember lying on a blanket and staring at the stars? Dreaming. Enjoying. Connecting the dots. Well. I’d always thought about capturing them, but I’d never found the motivation to find out ‘how’…untill now! Previous week it was International Dark Sky Week. My love read an article about it in a dutch newspaper, ‘de Geldelander’. And…

The world is our playground

The world is our playground

There’s a square at our neighborhood. On the square there’s a playset. With climbing net, climbing frame, fireman’s pole, a big and a small slide, playhouse, skills game…… Challenging enough, you might  think. For decoration of the square there are several oversized, coniferous, shrubs. And just these giants are challenging our children to play. They…

Camperlife Part1- Slow

Camperlife Part1- Slow

Camperlife is so much less rapidly. Everyday things like cooking, showering, doing the dishes, go twice as slow as at home. That suits me well. My “pruttelpotje” (on the  background) as we call it in dutch, is  my most precious possession in the camper. A beautiful, delicious, fragrant beginning of a new camperday.

Cleaning up body, mind and…attic

Cleaning up body, mind and…attic

Last week I was busy cleaning up the attic. A job which actually was waiting for years .. But now, the need is there. In practical terms; make the house livable for any other people, and in mental sense; Creating space inside my head for all the new things that are coming. In dutch we…

Urbex for breakfast

Urbex for breakfast

During a walk in the woods, before having breakfast, we discovered a small house. It gave me a “Blair witch” thrill. Even the kids turned quiet. I could feel their anxiety grow, not knowing what we would come across. It looked as if it was left in hurry…

Goodbye Denmark

Goodbye Denmark

Our host of the campsite in Højer advised us to get off the highway, traffic being the main reason. On the ferry crossing the river Elbe, between Glückstadt and Wischhafen, this little friend came to say goodbye. The gull as a symbol of freedom; free to go wherever it wants. As are we. As it was saying goodbye,…

The second step

The second step

A call with the attendance officer. Well, the second step? It’s the first time for us to get some more information about the law, regarding to compulsory education. About the possibilities of our journey when we go traveling and educating our kids in different schools within different cities in Scandinavia. That we will go on tour,…
