A. P. Møller Skolen is een Deense school in Duitsland!? Een school met een prachtig vormgegeven gebouw. De school herbergt klas 7 t/m 13/14. De voertaal is Deens en belangrijke vakken zijn science, sport, talen en muziek. Ruimte, rust en intrinsiek gemotiveerde studenten typeert de school. Maar ook de docenten die ontspannen en met een lach zich door het gebouw bewegen. Wat een start van onze reis!

A. P. Møller Skolen is a Danish school in Germany!? The architecture of the building is great. The school houses a wide school (7th to 10th grade) and a secondary school (11th to 13/14th grade). The official language is Danish and important subjects are science, sports, languages and music. Space, peace and intrinsically motivated students characterizes the school. But also teachers who move relaxed through the building and with a smile on their faces. What a start of our journey!

De eerste Deense school die we aandoen is Arrild Privatskole. De school kenmerkt zich door de relatief kleine klassen, maar ook met leerkrachtwissels. Door de grootte van de school geven leerkrachten twee/drie verschillende vakken in en aan verschillende klassen. Het waarborgt hierdoor ook direct de visie die zij binnen school hebben: ‘ieder kind wordt gezien’. Leerlingen zijn open en nieuwsgierig. En Feie overwon hier misschien wel een van zijn grootste angsten!

The first Danish school we visit is Arrild Privatskole. The school is characterized by the relatively small classes, but also with the teacher who change subjects and classes. Because of the size of the school teachers give two/three different subjects. It also directly guarantees the vision of the school: ‘every child is seen’. Students are open and curious. Feie, our son, overcame perhaps one of his greatest fears!

We bezoeken ook een efterskole, de Rejsby Europæiske Efterskole! Een efterskole is een tussenjaar voor studenten uit de 10e klas. Een fantastisch concept vanuit de ideeën van N.F.S. Grundtvig (1783–1872) en Christen Kold (1816-1870) waarbij de student een jaar in-school is. Alles onder één dak: het slapen, samen eten, het (keuze) programma volgen en “spare time“. De dag begint gezamenlijk met een lied of gesprek. Respect, vertrouwen en kennisverdieping als waarden.

We also visit an efterskole, the Rejsby Europæiske Efterskole! An efterskole is a fantastic concept for student in class 10 (15/16yo) founded after the educational ideas of N. F. S. Grundtvig (1783–1872) and Christen Kold (1816-1870) who wanted schools to impart enlightenment values rather than formal vocational training. A student is in-school for a year: sleeping, eating, following the (optional) program and “spare time”. Respect, trust and knowledge as values.

Dalane skule is located in Åmdalen, about 10 km east of the center of Ørsta. It is a school with 68 students spread over 7 years. Besides the regular subjects and general education, the students go into nature a lot. The environment invites and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
